100 days of learning

The students have been in school for 100 days! Of course, this requires a full day of celebrating :) Friday was dedicated to the 100th day of school. Lessons were still taught, but all activities and lessons for the day were related to the number 100. Below are the days highlights:

* Students wore their 100 hats - that we made earlier in the week

(On the front, in black, is the number 100. Then there are ten strips sticking out of the hat with ten stickers on each strip. So, each student has 100 stickers on their hat)

* They also word a 100 things shirt. At home, parents were encouraged to help their child create/decorate a shirt with 100 of something on it. I made a shirt with 100 polka dots on it!

(The back said "Ms. U" and had a heart on it with the number 100 inside)

(One of the students put 100 google eyes on their shirt!)

* A school wide celebration was held first thing in the morning. All students and teachers gathered in the gym to sing songs, do a 100th exercise, and count to 100 in different ways. Students who have had 100 days of perfect attendance were recognized.

* A fun I Spy activity was completed as a class. The activity page was the number 100 with  pictures hidden in it. Students had to follow a guide to color the objects the correct color. Each student had their own coloring page, but could reference the SMARTBoard to find all of the pictures.

* Math for today focused on counting to 100 by ones and grouping 100 items into groups of 10. Each student brought a bag of 100 things to school with them that they used during this lesson.

From HotWheels Cars to a hundred piece puzzle, a fun variety of objects were brought in!

First, students placed their 100 object in a long line. We did a gallery walk around the room so the class could look as one another’s collections.

We briefly reviewed counting by tens with the class before each student was asked to place their objects in groups of ten.

Fingers crossed the snow and wind cooperate so we can have an actual full week of school!
